美国环保组织「环境工作小组」（Environmental Working Group，EWG）指出，市场上43种燕麦食物含有除草剂「年年春」（Roundup）的主要化学物质草甘膦（glyphosate），而且大部分產品的草甘膦含量，超出儿童摄取的安全份量。
美国媒体报导，EWG指化验结果显示，知名品牌桂格燕麦（Quaker Oats）、家乐氏（Kellogg’s）和Cheerios等的化学物含量最高。
EWG主席库克（Ken Cook）说，儿童对草甘膦的安全摄取量，不应超过160 ppb，但桂格燕麦的两个样本，均被验出草甘膦的浓度超过1000 ppb。
他说，美国人吃著这些穀物食品长大，不料把除草剂当早餐吃，而呼吁政府加强管控，保障民眾的饮食安全。

报导称，本月初一名患癌男子提控以美国农业大厂，没有警告民眾有致癌风险，旧金山法院裁定厂商必须赔偿该名男子2.89亿美元，引起民眾关注农药课题。
